No secrets here CBD and CBD-A are both cannabinoids. But CBD was seen by many as the promising compound in the plant. Recently, some study reappeared with a composition of raw juice from CBD that turns out to be CBD-A and now everybody is wondering what is the difference.
In the chemical chart, CBD-A is the acidic precursor of CBD. The first stage of growing cannabis produce THC-A and CBD-A no THC or CBD. Heated it change is composition smoking, cooking, or vaporization it brings the psychoactive compound.
By what we know today, CBD-A is seeing to be an inactive compound but with the year of studies that was occur on that subject, it has beneficial properties. Anti-inflammatory and anti-proliferative traits are the few effects that occur with CBD-A.
For example, Dr. Sean McAllister, a highly prolific scientist in the field of cannabinoid research, found that THC and CBD appeared to inhibit and kill cancer cells. But also that “compared to CBD, CBDA had negligible effects in cell viability assay against multiple cancers. We therefore never took a great interest in the molecule.”
This is further backed up by a study that Dr. McAllister points out. The study, “Antitumor Activity of Plant Cannabinoids with Emphasis on the Effect of Cannabidiol on Human Breast Carcinoma,” found that of all the cannabinoids (including THC, CBG, and CBC), CBD was the most potent at fighting breast cancer, whereas CBDA was the least.
