What is Limonene?

Limonene is a chemical found in the peels of citrus fruits and in other plants example (Cannabis). It is usually used to make medicine. D-limonene is said to offer a variety of health benefits. Pharmaceuticals approach, limonene is added to help medicinal ointments and some creams to penetrate the skin (CBD oil).

In foods, beverages, and chewing gum, limonene is used as a flavoring. It is used as a fragrance as well. Can you imagine a terpenes that can procure weight loss, help with bronchitis and heart burn.

One of the biggest benefits the Limonene has is that it can prevent you from certain cancer. Yes you read it right. In the 1990's, Critical Reviews in Oncogenesis in 1994, stated that it may inhibit the growth of tumors and possibly protect against breast cancer. But in 2012 a study from Human & Experimental Toxicology tested on mice D-Limonene and it revealed that it can also protect you from skin cancer and Life Sciences published colon cancer can help fight it.

Although it's too soon to recommend D-limonene for cancer prevention, you can talk with your healthcare provider about other lifestyle changes and natural remedies that may help strengthen your defense against cancer. For instance, there's some evidence that maintaining optimal levels of vitamin D and increasing your intake of green tea and omega-3 fatty acids may offer some anti-cancer benefits.
